The Life Cycle of a Movement tends to be marked by clear stages.

1. The Big Idea

An inspiring figure or leaders present a new and transcendent idea that promises a cure for alienated and vulnerable people.

And so it goes. They’re getting ready to challenge the establishment in Australia. Tensions are rising. Conflict emerges from the sidelines. Movement founders offer a fresh beginning, optimism ahead, love, redemption together who all believe in the big idea.

What was this thing back then? Just men on a balcony enjoying success. Ink. Forearms. Determination. Elite male wellness energy. Admittedly, England’s players often say it’s not a real term, amusingly because if it doesn’t exist, what did we see?

Yet it’s clear the concept. It’s the batsman executing a stroke so depraved it’s beyond belief. It’s the adrenaline of the captain at his peak, a demeanor suggesting: focused titan, strong features, untamed style, so authentically Modern Savage you half-expect to glance over and notice he’s fielding on the ground shirtless holding a fish.

It’s the opener still being allowed addressing the media, resembling a happy little woodland creature in a waistcoat, expressing thoughts like we’re breaking down traditions. Indeed, the energy, for quite a long time, was uplifting.

3. Expansion Period

Growth phase. Unity enforced via memorization of mantras. These beliefs can appear contradictory as a loyalty check.

Is it just me? The criticism, the outrage, the feeling of letdown post-defeat feels overblown, too much. The batting collapsed during the match, as is typical there. They were torn apart defensively during a brief period as the bowling and captaincy fell apart, outplayed by the opponent batting like England but better, adaptive to conditions, a man playing with a kind of light around him.

Currently, we see the pile-on, the anger, the view of the sport as a kind of abomination. Focus on the moment. Confront risks. But no matter how fast and far you run, things stay similar.
